I'm 27 years old. I have a bachelor in East Asian Studies from the University of Montreal and a master in translation that I did abroad at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. I've been living in China for 5 years and working as a meagerly payed translator (¥11,000/month) for the past year. My wife works as well (making about ¥4000 a month).

At about ¥15,000 a month together, I feel like I'm walking on ropes living in Beijing. I want to start making more money but I can't figure out the best thing to do in my situation. I'm not particularly attached to translation, and I wonder if I could branch out to something else, and what would that be considering my background in Asian Studies.

Me and my wife are also hesitating on whether it'd be best for us to stay in Beijing or move back to Montreal, in terms of building a future.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you!
