This past January I had an ingrown hair on my arm that looked like it might be infected. Before waiting for it to get worse, I go to the urgent care center. They say is no big deal, they open it up, let some stuff out and give me antibiotics. Took literally 5 minutes, it was great!

Fast forward a month and I see a bill from the urgent care center for over $2k. Turns out the urgent care is owned by a hospital chain and bills like a hospital! Apparently this is a thing. I have gotten this procedure done before at a different urgent care and the cost on my end has been no more than $50 doctor copay.

Anyway, I call my insurance provider and they say I need to file a complaint. I file the complaint and they rejected it today. In their letter they explain that it is "part of the policy to have a $2k deductible on out patient surgery at a hospital. They don't address the reason for my filing a claim of whether or not the place is an urgent care center and not a hospital.

I need some help as I don't currently have 2k for this crazyness. What else can I do or who else should I contact? Any suggestions or tips would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!
