So I was in traffic, wet roads from a rain, I was stationary and another driver hit me from behind. Probably no faster than about 5-7 MPH. His vehicle was a lot heavier, however, and while it sustained no visible or obvious damage, my bumper (I drive a late-model Japanese sedan) has a visible horizontal scratch and shallow dent to match, and what I would describe as "impact waves" on the top of the bumper.

He told me he would pay for my repairs out of pocket. I got a photo (at his recommendation) of his DL and insurance info, and likewise for me. He didn't dispute that it was his fault. He said if the out of pocket arrangement "didn't work, then we can go through insurance."

Now about 48 hours later, I am less swamped with work than I was then, and am regretting not just calling the cops, getting a report and eating the consequences on both sides of an accident report on insurance. I was very distracted as there was a death in my family and stuff going on at that very same day, and simply just caved as I was stressed and didn't want to deal with it, and also the guy seemed on the up-and-up and was willing to show me his license, insurance, etc. Wasn't fleeing the scene or anything. IDK

The damage seems minor, but now I am somewhat just at a loss as to what to do next. Will body shops even look at this and do it for a cash price that is at all affordable? How should I proceed from here and loop in the other driver?
