Hi so I graduated from college last May with no debt thanks to scholarships and my parents. When I went to college my dad drilled into my head not to even touch a credit card and just stick with my debit card. That was great advice but now that I'm out I have no loans to pay or a credit card payment and essentially, no credit history. I'm getting transferred this fall for work to a new city and I'm so excited. Currently, I'm staying with a relative and only paying her $400 in rent. When I go to my new city, I will be living alone and getting my own place.
Will I have a lot of trouble trying to rent with no credit history? I'm debating just taking out a credit card right now and just buying things and paying it off quickly in an attempt to create some history but I don't feel confident enough with credit cards to pick one. There's so many and I get overwhelmed with how many there are. Is there anything else I can do like show paycheck stubs to apt complexes to show that I have steady employment? Or is it likely I will need a guarantor?
Any and all help is extremely appreciated.
