So I've saved up to buy a pretty good lawn mower that should last me for the rest of my life and stay out of a landfill/be replaced. Up to now I've used a push reel mower and no chemicals on my lawn. I had my property cleared which effectively doubled my mowing area. The treeline removed a 50 degree slope west-to-east up to a maybe 10 degree alternating slope east-to-west.
I've spend an unbelievable amount of time turning my lawn from a 3/10 to an 8/10 since I bought my house, but it gets easier every year. This was all done with no gas or chemicals. (Before you say I'm crazy I just listen to podcasts while working).
So I get this mower, run it once, and I just feel like a POS. I do not care whatsoever about a show lawn, just a healthy lawn. I know gas mowers are serious polluters, but the model I got is a fuel-efficient and again is a quality to last my lifetime. I'm not a hardcore vegan or anything, but I'm pretty serious into recycling, bike commuting for groceries even, keeping one trashbag a week...
I justified needing it because of this new area I've cleared. After removing all the trees the ground was basically smothered in a thick woven layer of vines which I chopped and cleared by hand. Now it's pretty much just rich empty soil. I plan on putting a large garden in this area when I can afford it.
Its not like I have a HOA either. Actually most of my neighbors have shitty lawns.
You guys think I should return this polluting mower?
