We got our first house and knew we had some big ticket purchases to make, including appliances. Did my shopping around, found a set for a really good deal with Costco. When we went to sign up, they convinced us to get the executive membership, and after running the numbers we figured for this year at least, we'd do pretty well with it because of said appliances. Everything is fine and dandy, got my refund cheque, and we were right, it paid for the upgrade in membership and then some. Except what we got wasn't a cheque. It was a voucher, redeemable only at Costco. I'm ticked! It's the principal of the thing, I thought I was getting cash, but instead we just got a giant coupon. Is this the way it's always been? I probably would have signed up for the membership anyway, but there advertising is misleading. Anyone else have experience with this?
