I had my girlfriend's mom due my taxes this year. After about 5 weeks, I find out that there's something wrong with it. I call the IRS and, apparently, my name did not match up to what was on file in Social Security. According to the IRS, I am now supposed to go to a Social Security office and have them change my name to what the IRS has (what's on the tax refund form). Or I can submit a 1040x with the name that I used on last year's tax refund, assuming that it'll work since it's hasn't been changed. Any advice on what I should be doing or how I should take care of this? I need to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thanks!
