This has probably been discussed before, but I honestly can't give enough praise to my local libraries.
I rarely rarely ever read a book more than once. I would go for pdfs, but there's just something about holding a book in my hands that keeps me more present. I've probably read a couple hundred dollars worth of books during my commutes to school and my mental wellness and wallet thanks me for it.
How many people have beaten a video game once and never touched it again? Most libraries lend out games (normally bigger titles for ps4 and xbox1), though you might have to reserve it and wait a few weeks. That's a $70-90 (canadian, ymmv) savings for every new game you don't buy.
Libraries often offer other programs as well. For example: my local library runs a seed bank where you can take out seeds for free under the agreement that you will bring seeds back from your harvest. They educate you on how to grow and prepare the seeds properly so you're learning while producing your own delicious food!
I love my local libraries and what they provide to the public. The things I listed above, community programs, free courses, and access to a safe place builds a stronger community; and utilizing their services has enriched my life without (at least directly) spending a penny.
