The butcher shop I work for provides everyone with these:
They are made in USA which is nice, but I'm on my third pair in my three years working here. The bottom sole loses traction after about six to eight months and develops a crack for water to enter and I'm thinking about just buying my own. I would like some boots that will last longer.
Things about this boot that bother me:
-
Either the new pair I just got is letting water through near my toes or from some sort of condensation collecting inside from the steel toe. I just bought some Red Wing work orthotics and they had wet spots after the first day.
-
The provided insoles are horrible. They are very thin and cheap. I can't believe I waited this long to get some replacement insoles
-
They aren't very warm during winter. They are basically rubber boots with minimal lining. I usually wear wool socks with a pair of little hotties.
-
Animal meat and fat easily get stuck in the small tread under the boot making it slippery. I have to frequently hose it out.
-
They aren't very comfortable.
I know that was wordy, but it might hopefully narrow down some reccomendations. I guess I would be willing to spend $80 - $150 on a pair that would be significantly higher quality.
What does r/BuyItForLife suggest?
