Hello All,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge with this. I moved to Canada from the UK in 2015 and last year was the first time I had to do my own taxes so I apologise for my stupidity in advance :)
I received a letter today from the CRA saying I owe them $3000 and when I called them it turns out I didn't pay any income tax with my last employer. I'm unsure why I never payed any taxes while I was working, as it was my first job in Canada I saw small deductions on my payslips and thought it was fine; one was 'EI' and the other just said 'Govt'

Is my employer liable or is this down to my own stupidity in missing this on my payslips for a whole year.

Thank You :)
