So about half a year back I got my first 'real' job and am now looking to move out of the proverbial basement. I'm making 14 bucks an hour and have no dependents (unless a cat counts). Rent for your average 2 and a 1/2 in the area I work runs about $700-$750 (utilities generally included), based on the searching I've done, and I figured out that after rent, groceries, phone bill and my monthly bus pass I've got $550-ish left.
I've got a fair amount in savings, but I don't want to be running into negatives a year or two down the road because I can't cover expenses with my salary alone. I figured this sub was the best place to turn to, knowing how good you guys are at stretching a buck. Based on your experience, is that amount going to be enough to get by on after rent/food/transport/phone expenses without any serious issues?
