Just wondering if anyone here has done a Master of Social Work degree. I currently have a BS in Psychology with two years experience teaching English abroad.
I don't want to become a certified teacher in the US for a variety of reasons, but that's a different discussion. I know I need to be in some kind of job helping people, but my options are (obviously) limited with just the BS in Psych.
I've been considering doing a Master of Social Work. Everyone I've spoken to and all the research I've done online tells me that having the MSW will open up a lot of doors not only in the field of social work, but also other fields. I'm hoping to do it as cheap as possible, and don't want to take on any more than 10k in debt. Considering I'd probably only make 40k starting out, I really don't want to go into a large amount of debt for the degree.
So for those of you here who have done an MSW, did you feel it was worth it? Why or why not? Has it opened more doors? Any advice you may have for someone like me?
