My big question is whether the sword should be once piece or multiple where the hilt is later attached to the blade and pummel. I've done a bit of research and taken a look at some styles which ill like here. In all of them the cross guard is created separately, however here https://youtu.be/WIdEvdBOY0k?t=8m38s the hilt is part of the blade structure. An example of separate pieces is like so. https://youtu.be/Hg0JDKvKEB8?t=9m6s where the blade is pushed and glued into the hilt. Lastly I've seen a carbon fibre tube used as the hilt and covered later with tape to make it more comfortable. https://youtu.be/gcDCZ2TmTck?t=20m13s.The blade measures out to be 3ft 8.5 inches. From Pummel to blade beginning is 13 inches. The guard measures to 10 inches, and the widest part of the blade its self is 6.8 inches. Here are some drawings I have done up. This is brought to scale using model height comparisons. http://ift.tt/2p6TsBJ its size, do you see any draw backs from a specific style of creation? Keeping in mind I don't have a lathe and will be using my belt sander for any rounding I must do! Any suggestions to make that processes smoother are welcome! Thank you for reading all this, if any clarification is need just ask. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2oiWIgx
