Hey guys,This is my first year with a lawn and I have a bunch of questions on what I need to do for Spring. The previous owners said they always paid someone to come and do a few treatments per year so I do not know exactly what has been done to the lawn in the past.I'm planning to aerate, fertilize, overseed, and spread insect repellant.Should I aerate before fertilization and overseeding?I'm planning to rent a manual aerator -- is that a good course of action? My current plan is fertilize, aerate, overseed, and then (much later) insect repellant. The only reason I plan to fertilize first is because I have some of the stuff for that already but if it's better/requred to aerate first, I'll go rent an aerator asap.I will be using a broadcast spreader and use Scott's Weed & Feed for ferilization. Is there something else I should be using instead of Scott's Weed & feed? How can I tell what kind of grass I have? I live in Northern NJ -- is there a database of pictures/info that I can look at and compare to my lawn? If I shared some pictures of my grass here, would anyone be able to tell me?Would the type of grass cause any largely significant differences in how I treat my lawn?Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this and very ignorant. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2oab0MV
