Alrighty so after I graduated HS a year ago I bought my second car (first one my parents sold, different story). It's a 2006 VW New Beetle (convertible) which currently has about 120,000 miles. I bought it for ~6000 with the knowledge that the dealer would fix whatever was wrong with the car (check engine light was on). They replaced the 02 sensor and the light was gone for a while but came back on so they replaced the catalytic converter (no charge). The light came back on and so I went to a different shop and they are basically doing the same thing (although I payed the first visit and don't pay until they fix it (it's been 4 visits now)). I was in a small fender bender a while back and there went 2 grand on the scratches, new tires and such. Several smaller things have needed repairs including a headlight (probably all in all totaling 500 bucks). So the good things about this car are actually only two things: gas mileage is very good (15 dollars fills me up and lasts a month of average driving) anddd this was the car I wanted my whole childhood and I've become attached to her now. I've gotten advice from a lot of people like my parents (don't get rid of her) and my boyfriend (I couldn't get rid of her fast enough for him). There's not a lot left to be done on this car but I have friends who would do most of this work and my only cost would be parts. Is my car even worth it anymore (considering price of foreign parts, age, and prices spent already)?
