So, my wife and I are doing ok financially. We make enough to easily cover our bills, are within 3 months of having all revolving accounts other than cars paid off. However, we need to start saving a significant amount of our incomes towards a future down payment. Once issue we have is we both are a bit spendy. Not too bad, but I think we can both make cuts. My potential solution is to have $X drafted out of paychecks into "individual spending" accounts. That way, there's no fighting over buying things, whatever is in the individual debit account is there for us to spend on ourselves, whatever we want.
Has anyone tried this an approach to budgeting/spending with spouses?
