I rephrased to be more direct. We have 3 cats and one of them has gotten older and pees outside of the box to where the floating hardwood is stained. Our plan is to remove it and have it be just concrete. I have read through some other DIY's and been watching videos. We have 4 rooms, living, office, entryway, and a half bath. All on the same concrete slab. One room has carpet, 2 rooms have tile, one room has floating engineered hardwood.I don't have the time currently to do it all via, filling, grinding, etching, staining and sealing. I'd like to take the carpet and the hardwood out and hold out until I can do it all nicer. How can I do least amount of involved work that doesn't hinder long term goals of being able to finish it nicer? We don't want to just leave the concrete bare and have cat urine getting on it. If there isn't an easy way, there isn't. I can accept that, then is there an easy way to do the rooms in stages by creating fake "borders" around the room so the room changes look purposeful? Thanks in advance. So it could be summed up in: "How can I transition to hardwood across the slab in stages?" via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2o0k31t
