I am currently 19 and my year review is coming up at work. I started out as a patient account representative for a medical billing company. At the moment im making $11.00 an hour.

Since i have been working here, i have been given numerous responsibilities (aside from answering patient phone calls) such as:

*Processing and Reviewing Collections (Sending accounts to collections and reviewing them for reinstatement, along with working with the collection agencies)

*Statements (Making sure statements go out daily and fixing errors on the statement files that need uploaded)

*Compliance (Analyzing accounts and patient complaints to the facility on billing issues)

Im no longer answering the phones daily since these three tasks take up most of my time, but my job title is still "Patient Account Representative" and i have not switched departments since i started working.

I consulted with a co-worker and i was told a $2.00 raise would be most likely given.

The problem is, im doing work that would normally be assigned to people in different departments higher up in the company that are earning much more.

I feel I am getting under payed for the work i do considering other reps are getting paid more just answering the phones.

Should I let them offer an amount first and negotiate from there or have a pre determined amount already chosen?

Thanks for the help on this matter!
