How did you get rid of your "if I have money, I must spend it!" mentality? I'm absurdly bad at saving money. I don't spend it on total nonsense, but see stocks and saving as "boring" and new projects (that I think will make money someday) as "exciting." Like expensive classes and work tool upgrades.

I own a small business in the software field. This year, I am making a lot of money. Instantly I am looking to buy property instead of saving it, for some reason. I am buying new gadgets. Investing into business ventures. Because all of those things are more exciting than boring old saving.

I gross well into the xxx,xxx range but I have about 1300 dollars in savings right now.
