A few years ago I upgraded all of my underwear to Ex Officio because of the BIFL implications. I generally hung dried them, but about once every month or two, due to time constraints, I had to put them in the drier. That was enough to warp the elastic on many pairs.
Given that they are over $10 per pair to replace, and given that the body of the underwear is near perfect, I think if I can replace the elastic for $5 or less per pair, it would be worth doing. I have a good local tailor that does weird stuff for me like this. If I bought some elastic over, I could probably get them to sew it in.
Anyone try something like this? Advice on what kind of elastic to get? Seam ripper to remove the old elastic? Terrible idea and just buy new underwear?
