My credit card that I use to pay my gym membership expired this month, and conveniently this month the gym I use started adding a $29.99 fee that I didn't sign up for (I got an e-mail saying my CC was expired, that's how I knew they were adding the fee). I have had this membership for a little over a year. I have a month-to-month membership and I paid first and last month when I signed up. I called to cancel my membership but they say I have to go into the gym to do that. I am currently injured and won't be able to go to the physical location for a few weeks. Since my CC is expired and I am month-to-month, what kind of consequences would I face for just not updating my payment info?
EDIT: The membership agreement actually details this fee as an annual fee. My fault for not reading the fine print. Sorry about the waste of time.
