So I am looking to rent a car for a few days in May to take a weekend trip. I myself am a AAA member, however my boyfriend who will be coming with me is not. I see HERTZ waves additional driver fees with AAA membership but it is confusing to me whether HE has to be a AAA member or the fee is waived since I am a a AAA member. I would really want to avoid paying these additional driver fees, but am unsure the best way to go about it. Simply, I want it for as cheap as possible. I see some GREAT rates on Priceline but I also hear if you rent through Priceline then HERTZ doesn't honor the AAA perks like no additional drivers. I am not married to HERTZ, if anyone knows of any better way to get around such fees and have a cheap rate. Priceline seems to give better rates than going directly through the rental car companies. I don't know if there is a way to rent through AAA directly or something and get comparable rates. Let me know! Any tips would be appreciated.
