I'm looking to buy a chair, and the consensus on this forum seems that the Steelcase Leap chair is the BIFL chair.

But, a new chair is out of my budget so I'll have to look for a used chair. When buying a used chair, what do I need to know to look out for or be wary of when looking at a used chair?

There's two Steelcase Leaps, an older V1 generation and newer V2 chairs. At this point, should you try to get the V2s because the V1s are so old at this point?

When you're buying a Steelcase Leap, how do you verify how old the chair is? I think there's some paper at the bottom of the chair, but can't somebody easily replace that?

At what age, do those chairs start to break down?

And, how hard and how much would it cost to fix a Steelcase Leap chair if there are problems?

On Craigslist, I found a couple of options- Steelcase Leap chair, which I'm assuming is V1, for $150 or a leather Steelcase Leap V2 chair for $375 firm price that seller claims is only a few years old.

I'd rather pay less money but I'm afraid that if I buy the $150 chair then I'd have to spend more money on it if there's something wrong. Do you think $375 is a fair price for that V2 chair?
