Hi All,

I know iterations of this question are asked repeatedly but I couldn't find specific advice for summer boots. I will be conducting biological fieldwork in the sand dune region of Western Texas this summer, and need a pair of safety toe (composite or steel) boots to comply with regulations on oil fields we'll be frequenting. I'll be in them 12 hours a day, 5 days a week through September, then hopefully for many future projects to come.

My current idea is to go with the Timberland Pro Boondock 6". The composite toe will be lighter than the steel, and since we'll be encountering temps around 100F daily, might be a bit cooler on my feet as well. My only reservation is that these seem more apt for a construction site and concrete footing, rather than a sand dune desert environment. Would I be better off looking at a composite-toed military boot? There are many versions of these online but I wondered if they would have the same durability as the Timberlands. I could use some advice as to whether the Timberlands will be appropriate for me, or what else I should be looking at. Price range is about $200 give or take

Thanks!
