I'm planning an extended road trip and am looking to rent a car. I came across this AutoSlash site during my research and when I put in a request for a quote, they gave me one that was almost $200 cheaper than anything else I've found. I went ahead and made the reservation just because it was absurdly cheap and I didn't have to pay anything up front.
I went to the rental company's website and put in my confirmation number and the reservation appears to have successfully been completed. However, it says that I used a promotional code associated with American Express Premium Official Travel. Obviously I didn't put this in and it was something AutoSlash used and now I'm leery about actually following through with this reservation in case I'll be asked for some sort of proof that I qualify for this code or that if I don't and it's found out during the rental period, I will be in some sort of trouble.
Has anyone successfully or unsuccessfully used AutoSlash before? Have you noticed any promo codes like this applied to your rental and did they cause any problems?
Outside of advertising, which there is a minimal amount of, I can't tell how AutoSlash makes money. That makes me leery as well. Am I just being paranoid and over thinking it or should I cancel this reservation and make a regular, more expensive one, legitimately through a rental agency?
