Hi everyone! This is my first post here, and i am brand new to Reddit! My husband and I embrace a frugal lifestyle (as much as we can, and aiming to be more a bit more frugal each month). But we are facing a huge challenge: we live in Seattle. We pay $1,900 for a one-bedroom apartment in a very old building (gasp!), and we chose this place after touring authentic horror museums that were only 100 or 200 dollars cheaper than this. We are going to have a baby in only a few months and we would like to 1) cut down housing expenses and 2) have a second bedroom. But that seems as crazy as requesting a flying unicorn in a pet shop. Needless to say, we looked into the possibility of buying a home and we wanted to scream at the average home price. How do people manage to keep down housing expenses in Seattle without moving into mold riddled cave-apartments? Is our only chance at a quality home moving away from this city? Thank you!
