Hey everyone,

First I'd like to start off by saying I read the wiki on Credit but I'd like some more in depth answers based your personal experience/wisdom.

I'm 21 and currently active duty in the US military. I consider myself financially knowledgeable however I hate the idea of owning a credit card. Regardless, I think it's time for me to overcome my concerns and fear but I want to be safe about it.

If possible, I'd like an opinion on the card I'm looking at Gold Luxury Card. Thankfully, all fees are waived and I get 0% interest because I'm active duty military. Would it hurt me at all if I canceled the card once I'm out of the military if I don't want to pay the $995 annual fee?

1. What are some things you wish you knew prior to getting your first credit card?
2. Is there anything that people don't know when using a credit card that is hidden in "fine print" which can hurt people's credit?
3. Are there any initiatives/precautions I should take?
4. How do I redeem "points" whether it be airfare (miles) or my cashback?
5. With the credit card I'm considering (or others like it) are there any "tricks" or tips to get the most out of my benefits?

Thank you for putting up with my arrogance everybody!
