I have about $10.3K in Wealthfront right now, with about $300 in short term gains and $1K in long term gains. I'd like to move all of that money into VTSAX in a taxable account (already balanced my portfolio with bonds in my Roth IRA).

I dont have a lot of experience with taxable accounts, so I have the following concerns:

  1. If I do an account transfer I'll get the same portfolio (Vanguard and other ETFs), the vanguard etfs will be free to trade, but the others will be about $7 per etf. I'm worried that if I sell off those ETFs for VTSAX it will still trigger a tax event.
  2. If i withdraw the funds entirely from WF they say I'll owe about $400 in taxes from the gains, but then at least I can transfer from my checking directly to vanguard and buy VTSAX.

Thoughts?
