Hello,

I am travelling to SE Asia in about two months (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand). I wanted to be able to use my cellular phone while I was there, and it appears that this will not be very easy. I have a locked phone with Sprint. I looked over their plans, and the website for travelling abroad is very confusing at best. I see things like $1.50/min and $2/MB, which is crazy pricing, hopefully someone here can help explain it more. I want to use data and make local calls and texts/calls back to the USA. This would be the simplest choice if the money was right. I am travelling for about three weeks, one week roughly in each country.

Now, the other option is buying a cheap GSM phone and buy tourist SIM cards. My idea was the BLU R1 HD from Amazon for $60 plus $20-$30 or so for the SIM cards. These usually have unlimited data, and of course I have WiFi in the hotel, etc.

And maybe another option is buying the phone, getting a domestic SIM card plan, and then getting extra on the plan to travel internationally. I also don't know how much that will cost either, because that seems like an endless rabbit hole for the moment.

So in short, please help me use my phone the cheapest while I am abroad. Suggestions, comments, and tips very much appreciated. Thank you.
