I have been lurking this sub for over a year now. I was able to pay off my high credit card balances, student loans, and fix my credit. I got out of my high rent apartment and finally was able to get a down payment to buy a house in New Jersey! http://ift.tt/2nDlZy1
Monthly Expenses:
Mortgage & Taxes: $4000
Utilities: $400 (This is gas, electricity, water, and sewer combined)
Internet/TV: $150
Furniture: $400
(I had to basically get all new furniture since I was borrowing most of the furniture in my apartment, but this is all 0% interest for 2 years.)
Cell Phone: $25 (I pay my parents since I'm under their plan)
Transportation: $100 (Gas, my work commute is like 30 mins)
Food: $150
Right now I'm not saving much, but the mortgage was basically almost what I was paying in rent before with my credit card and student loan on top of that. But I was reading all the success stories on /r/personalfinance and was able to get all my balances down to $0 and save up for a down payment.
