Wasn't sure whether to post on here or on r/space. I know this sounds silly but it's always been my mom's dream to go into space. She and my dad both worked for Rocketdyne and then Boeing and are mechanical engineers. My mom's always wanted to go into space and it seems like it might be possible with things like SpaceX and such but I'm not sure what's the best way to save up for it or if it's even at all possible. About me:
-23 years old, currently a vet student and on a scholarship with the US Army
-Income: $25000/year and school paid for (31000/year)
-Have 68k in student loans from undergrad + 1 year of vet school pre-scholarship about 6% interest, paying $210/month (early payment since it's still deferred)
-$5500 in a Roth IRA, contributing $390/month
-Also putting away $300/month toward buying a car
-Once I'm done with school my income will be about $70,000 and I will probably be paying about $600/month for student loans
So.. is there a way I can save up or invest to get my mom on some passenger flight into orbit in her lifetime? She's 65 now, but is very healthy (like, runs-1/2-marathons healthy). I really want to give this to her, she's done so much for me and this is her dream. I've been trying to research the future costs of commercial space travel but it's hard to find that kind of information. So anything would be helpful! Thanks so much.
