I want to start a Roth IRA and my cousin suggested to open an account with Vanguard. But, after reading reviews from nerdwallet, TD Ameritrade seems to offer more value if I open an account with them.
I'm trying to avoid paying unnecessary fees since as of now I am a senior in college, therefore will not contribute towards my Roth IRA until I start earning, but I will start an account with $1000.
1) Does it matter which provider I choose?
2) If I am not contributing towards my Roth IRA will I need pay taxes/fees?
