I'm 500 away from the 3,000 minimum needed to start a Vanguard account.

I'm looking to invest all of it and start my first portfolio.

I have my eyes on mutual funds and ETF's. I want strong negative correlation because of what happened in 2008; I think things will whip down within the next 4-8 years.

Maybe something like 33% total stock index market 33% international stock market index 33% US total bond index

or SuperDividend US ETF 50% Vanguard Consumer Staples VDC 20% and Vanguard bond index VBMFX 30%

Would anyone recommend a few core ETF's/Bond's/Foreign markets etc for investing?

Also, is it smart investing in the index with prices being historically the highest ever? Or should i wait for a dip..

If I can invest 1,000 into this account each month, is this really a wise investment? I have no idea how returns on these investments work, but I'd like to have them reinvested when possible.
