Hello, PF! Frequent contributor here but created a throwaway for this post.

  • Previously earned ~64k base as a Financial Analyst in Seattle
  • Promoted to Sr Financial Analyst in new team (sweet!) - 22% raise to ~79k base
  • Boss "accidentally" forwards conversation he had with director and HR about my director wanting to bring me in at the lowest pay for Sr Financial Analyst
  • Most Sr Financial Analysts that I work with (and Finance Managers) do not have my level of technical skills, and frequently come to me for help with projects.
  • I am grateful to be making this much, but also realize that my technical skills (SQL, R, etc.) are in high demand and other Seattle companies would be paying me 110k+ base salary for the same work
  • I really enjoy my job and I love my boss / team. So really the only reason I'd leave is for more money.
  1. How do I take all of this? Should I mention that I saw the e-mail convo between my director and HR?
  2. How do I convince them to pay me more money, especially knowing that they decided the minimum salary was acceptable for me?
