Hypothetically, I want to offload a million shares of a stock that has an average daily volume of 50 million. Let's say I set a sell limit at $20 and the stock is currently at $19. Mechanically, what happens when the price reaches my limit? Anything different from what would happen if I was selling 10 shares?
I assume my sale would go through if enough people were willing to buy a total of one million shares at that price. Does share quantity have any effect on trading strategies? I have experienced partially filled orders in the past, but I've been wondering if a massive order is feasible or what...
