Ok, so I've been wrestling with this one for a while now... I have a lot of people that are suggesting that I drop down to two vehicles from three since we only have 2 drivers. Granted everyone's case is different but in my case we have a truck, van and a car. All are paid for, cheap insurance and I dont have to pay for parking. Having a truck as a homeowner is a no-brainer and from my experience the mileage and wear and tear is much slower across three vehicles. If I purchase a new/er vehicle my insurance will jump for a certainty along with taking on a car payment. I haven't crunched all the numbers just yet but with the exception of general maintenance, which I remind you is spread out across three vehicles rather than two, is an estimated cost savings of about $50-75 to drop a vehicle due to insurance and registration. I'll admit its nice having a backup vehicle when all of your cars are over 125-175k, also one is a stick which the wife cannot drive. I'm wrestling with this one without some estimates....
