So firstly, I went to school for mechanical engineering and my current job is somewhat related to my major (I draw 3d pictures CAD) for a huge jet engine company.
My friend offered me a job to supervise union workers for 92k$. I would be a team lead. It's nothing related to my major.
I currently make 62k but my job is so stress free. I draw 3D pictures (CAD) for a jet engine company. I don't work more than 40 hours, overtime is sometimes available depending on the year of how the business is doing. I don't have meetings, I'm not on call, I basically have zero responsibility besides responding to my boss and whomever I'm working with on current projects. On top of my 8 personal days and 10 vaca days, I have 20 sick days to use (which I take once a month). No set time on when I need to show up for work (I choose 9-5) 401k, health and dental insurance, etc. I get an automatic 4% pay raise a year (there's no reviews) until I cap out around 98k$ which would take a while.
But my friend recently offered me a job for 92k as a team lead for another company to supervise union workers. I'm required to work (7-4), be on call 24/7, where my office is will be between 5 different locations depending on the needs of the business (3 locations being a 1.5 hour drive), during weather emergencies like snow (I live in New England) i am required to go to the site of impact and make sure employees are doing the right thing and not getting hurt (I would sit in a car), required to travel sometimes for meetings.
Good thing is I get a free company car to drive around and more pay but I have to deal with a lot more responsibilities and instead of 20 sick days I now I get about 5. Other benefits would be the same.
Given this, would the pay bump from 62k to 92k be worth it? I could use the money, it'll help me buy a house faster but it's not a huge deal breaker. I am 30 and have zero debt
Edit: one thing I want to point out is the on call thing at whatever crazy hour. I'm making it seem like I'll be on call all the time but I don't think it's much. Maybe once or twice every two months.
