Hi, I'm working on a custom dash for my Jeep YJ Wrangler. For those not familiar with this model, it came with a crappy plasticky dash that hurts the eyes. I'm building a flat metal dash (Cj-style, for the jeepers out there) with aftermarket gauges, switches etc. One cool feature I want to add is an embedded (non-removable) 7" tablet to give my oldtimer a modern music player, a gps, weather forecast, etc. I'm planning on using a Nexus 7.The thing is, a metal dash will block my gps and bluetooth reception, so what I'm planning to do is to build a plastic enclosure to hold the tablet itself that would not be flush with the dash, and screw it on the dash itself. I'm thinking about having the tablet stick out about 1 inch from the dash to have (hopefully) good reception. The plastic part should look as much as possible as part of the dash itself, so no clamps, suction cups or similar. The only exposed part of the tablet should be the screen. The dash and plastic will both be black so hopefully aesthetically it won't be too hard on the eyes.Do you guys have any suggestion on how I would go about fabricating/finding this plastic holder I need?I'm not sure I explained things properly, but any help would be appreciated. I can try to sketch a drawing to make things clearer if needed. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mJzyvy
