My situation is that I'm buying a new-to-me car in April in Michigan and I have a family reunion in Florida the second weekend of June. The direction I'm leaning is that I would rather put three thousand miles on a rental car (full cost split three ways), rather than put my fairly new car (gas split three ways) through that much use in a week.
I'm pretty much decided on this course of action and I'm posting because I'm curious about how you fine folks here would go about a similar situation.
