I am getting married later this year and I wanted to get some advice on financial planning for my new family - my fiancé and I. Background - both fiancé and I are software engineers capable of being completely financially independent. He has an advanced degree and is 5 years older than me. Currently, his yearly income is almost double that of mine. I will inherit more family property than he does. He might be liable to pay for the expenses of his aging parents who do not have a reliable source of income. I am looking for a way for both of us to be able to fairly use/invest our income. Ideally, I would want to split our monthly expenses and have our own savings each. How do married couples in similar situations handle this? What are some dos and donts? How do you do investments?
