A coworker and I are thinking of splitting a Costco membership. The cost would also be split with my roommate.

I would mainly like staples, such as quinoa and spices, that I know are much cheaper. What I'm worried about is spending much more money than I need to as some have mentioned on this sub.

Are there specific things to avoid? Is it worth it when you can buy in bulk online? My issue with online is the shipping fees associated with shipping things like grains and canned foods.

My diet is pretty repetitive, so I have a small set of shelf stable staples I use in everything. I just assumed that, since I'm not taking on a membership on my own, the lowered cost might offset any worries about overbuying.
