Bar graph of Child-Related Expenses Over Time

I was messing around in Mint and decided to export all my transactions from the last 6 years so I could manipulate the data in Tableau. I ended up filtering to only the categories that did (or seem like they should) vary depending on the number of children in the household. I applied a 5 month moving average and came up with the graphic linked above. It looks like each child costs roughly $300-500 per month from the ages of 0-5 years old. It will be interesting to see what happens as they age, but in the meantime I thought this might be useful data for any new (or soon to be new) parents.

My wife stays at home so daycare is not included in these expenses. Obviously this could be a huge additional cost for others and should be considered.
