I consider myself to be somewhat knowledgeable of the very basics of investment, particularly where stocks and mutual funds are concerned. I understand the power and mathematics of compound interest and accounting concepts such as PV, FV and discount rate.

I am interested in widening my knowledge of the fundamentals of investing. I do not intent to be a trader/speculator, but a fundamental investor (be it growth or value).

Between the two books, which would you personally recommend as someone's first read (assuming that person can only read one book for the near future).

Thanks!

PS: If it matters, I am non-American and will conduct my direct stock investment within my home country of Malaysia for the foreseeable future at the very least. I do however hold a position the Schroder Small/Mid Cap US Fund, which is a unit trust fund.
