I have just bought a toaster oven that I thought was going to fulfill all my hopes and dreams for a countertop oven. It did not sadly. There are some edits I'd love to make or wish there was at the beginning so thinking about how hard it would be to make my own.I live in a tiny space so want something that isn't a full size oven but still can cook my 16" pizza and allow for a regular size cooking pan which apparently is something like 10"x18". I'd love to be able to cook things tall enough such as the turkey they said you can stick in the one I have. So height isn't an issue. Then there is the concerns of heat disappation and insulation. I figure that it would be pretty awesome to insulate the cooking chamber with a flexible areogel type insulation. I know where to buy it for reasonable costs. (Aerogel is space tech level insulation that allows you to do things like put an ice cube on one side and a torch on the other and the ice won't be affected.)It seems also that 6" surrounding of the unit seems a bit ludicrious. This is also a reason I want to have the good insulation. This way I don't have to feel like everything around my toaster oven is either going to melt or catch on fire. Most ovens vent their heat from the top. When on a countertop, the heat would need vented out the front of the unit so that anything around the unit won't be affected. Then there is the door. There needs to be insulation around the door and the door should be constructed in such a way that doesn't burn the crap out of you when you are trying to touch the handle. I've heard a lot of complaints about being easily burned on the toaster oven doors.Thoughts for a build? Any projects you've already done relating to this? Other? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2owvKNR
