Here's my list so far:
- wedding/shower/bachelorette - thank god I only have one this year, she's a gem in this category I have set aside for a wedding gift & new dress for me (not a bridesmaid but I need a new dress), a Napa weekend hotel/eating out/gas to get down there, shower gift (its in town). Am I forgetting something?
- travel - I have to go to my nephew's graduation (flight) plus I promised to take him to a comic con as a grad gift (flight + passes, can stay with sister). He's worth every penny.
- auto insurance - every 6 months
- dropbox - annual, considering trying to reduce my size and skip come renewal
- license renewal - every 5 years, coming up this year
- plate renewal - annual
- auto maintenance - according to my owner's manual, this year I can expect to replace the fuel filter, engine timing belt, air cleaner element, spark plugs & fuel tank air filter. I'm getting quotes on everything today.
- auto replacement - I have a $100/month sinking fund for this
- mobile phone replacement - I have another $10/month sinking fund
- dentist - twice/year
- botox - twice/year, can you please just leave your dumbass comments to yourself on this one, pretty people get paid more and we all know it. I don't care that you use a bar of a soap, baking soda and a smile. I work in a client-facing industry. It matters.
- haircuts - every ~8 weeks
- vet visits for ma cat - annual
- doctor visits for ma self - (no health insurance)
- website hosting - annual
- gym - annual
Basically, I set up a system where I have all my recurring and one-time expenses for the year in a database. I then run a script to add it all up for the next 12 months then subtract that from my goal budget and see how much fun money is left over. I want all these non-weekly/monthly expenses included in the allotment.
I own my car, not my house. I have a cat. No kids. Feel free to add stuff that is outside these parameters for the benefit of others or future house- & kid-having me. Am I forgetting anything?
Be nice. Cheers.
