Back in September, a friend and I went out to get Mexican food. I had a margarita with my dinner and she had 2-3. She asked me to drive us home since she couldn't drive and I was fine. I drove us back and tried to pull her car into a narrow parking stall at her apartment. It was very tight. I asked her to take over if she could since I was struggling to fit. She saw scratches on it on the door. She corrected the parking. I then offered to buy her a scratch kit since the scratches were small and didn't appear very deep. She agreed to this. I gave her the scratch kit and that seemed to be the end of it. Or so I thought.
Fast forward to today, she said yesterday that she took the car in and that it is costing $1,500 to "fix the sides." There is no way in hell it was that kind of damage. I looked up the prices to fix scratches like that and it ranges from $300-$500. I took a picture originally but deleted it in December since I figured it was a done matter by then.
I don't think it is right to ask me to pay that much money and after almost half a year. Am I in any way responsible for this bill? If so, I would have to drop out of school and pretty much be in financial ruin since I struggled with unemployment and underemployment until last month and am working to pay off my debts accrued then.I plan to cut off ties with that friend after this since this just doesn't seem right.
