I know that if I unplug everything it won't use any electricity thus saving me money. Some devices draw electricity from outlets even when powered off (at least that's what I've been told) so energy, even if just a small amount, is used and costs money. If I plug things into a surge protector, and switch the surge protector off but leave it plugged in, does this prevent electricity from being drawn out from the devices? And will the devices be protected if the surge protector is switched off and plugged in? Or would it be best to just plug everything into a surge protector and unplug the surge protector when not in use?
