I've shared an update on my project to develop a better retirement forecasting tool with you guys last week. And once again, there was a lot of great feedback and suggestions for improvements. Here's a list of changes in the latest release (primarily driven by your feedback),
- More investment categories (403b, IRA Roth and Traditional).
- Home equity is now included, relying on Zillow trend data.
- Commas! Hopefully this makes it easier to enter large values.
- Small functional improvements throughout.
Still working on,
- Mobile friendly interface.
- Social security integration.
- Investment properties.
- Post-retirement forecasting.
In addition to the above changes, I've launched a blog to help share some of the underlying data with everyone. My long term goal is to include detailed user-comparison in the results interface, but I'm still struggling with low data. So in lieu of customized reports, I'm taking a step back and looking at the data in aggregate.
One of the first charts, slicing retirement accumulation by age group and account type.
If this is interesting to anyone, I'd be happy to make more.
