The last time I bought a pair of boots was in 2009. They were a pair of Swiss made Raichle uber boots that cost $400 and the 10x I wore them they were good before they disintegrated. I live in Sydney Australia and most of the year I wear work shoes or Flip-Flops (thongs in Aus), but maybe 2x a year I will need a boot for hiking or going on a dirt bike. When I say use for 2x or 10x, it maybe 2x/10x 1-10 day periods.
Back to the disintegrating soles... the pair I bought got used ~1-3x a year, and last year some 6 years after purchase I took them on a motorcycle ride from Lahsa Tibet to Mt. Everest, super awesome experience APART from my PoS boot Vibram soles disintegrating on the 1st day! I noticed a flappy feeling on my right foot while riding.

Now Tibet has boots, but generally not in my size and mostly copies of Timberland 6"s so I did my journey like this... http://ift.tt/2miCstN
Oh and you REALLY need sure footed boots up on the North side of Mt. Everest, bcos it's just rocks... http://ift.tt/2lHVWqj
The time has come to purchase another pair of boots, and I need recommendations for a shoe that won't disintegrate with very low use, but will last a fair while (20 years)... I still have a $2 Thai made T-Shirt I bought in 1996, so I don't think 20 years is unreasonable.
Thanks.
