Story:
I've told my gardener many times that I need an invoice for each and every month and that he needs to come on set days. My lawn always looks nice but I have no idea when he comes or goes. The last time I paid him was in August of 2016. Though he never gives invoices, I was able to confirm this through the check stubs on my bank account web portal. The checks are made out to his name (not to a business) and they ensured I was paid up in full in late August.
Now he's saying that I haven't paid since April of 2016 and he's requesting over $1000. What are my options here?
Obviously not doing business with him anymore but I don't know how to handle this in a way that's fair for both of us.
TL;DR; Gardener shows up whenever he wants... no proof of coming aside from a nice yard. Gardener doesn't give any papers or invoices though I ask for them each time I manage to see him (rare). Now gardener is incorrect in thinking that I owe for over a year when really I paid in August of 2016.
